Psychology - Obsessive-compulsive disorder?

Obsessive-compulsive cleaners tend to resemble people suffering from

a. Dissociative identity disorder

b. Bipolar disorder

c. Phobia of dirt

d. Antisocial personality disorder

I know that Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder characterised by obsessions and compulsions. OCD is an anxiety disorder, a category in the DSM also includes post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder (social phobia) and panic disorder. I think the answer is C. but it also might be B. I can’t figure it out. What do you think?

Common Obsession: Worrying excessively about dirt or germs and that you may become contaminated or contaminate others Common compulsion: Washing or cleaning: such as showering repeatedly or washing your hands until the skin is red and painful

Psychology - Obsessive-compulsive disorder?
It's not similar to Bipolar Disorder. Bipolar Disorder is characterized by depressions followed by manic or hypomanic episodes.

C is a better answer... not all people with OCD focus their obsessions %26amp;/or compulsions on dirt, but many do.
Reply:it's definately not B, and C is the obvious answer, but it may also be D i would think. Being alone so long puts one at a high risk of creating an OCD, especially if they don't do anything all day but clean, they will notice even the smallest bit of dirt in the house and see things as being dirty when they are actually clean.

Phobia of dirt.. your scared to be around it, and i don't think that's entirely the same thing as germaphobia where one cleans excessively in fear of germs or getting sick or getting something on their hands and don't want to touch anything without gloves.
Reply:It's C.
Reply:Obviously not a. or d.

OCD cleanears would most closely resemble an individual with a fear of dirt, yet I agree that it is possible that bipolar disorder could be correct as well. People going through a manic stage in BD can be frantic, a bit dilusional, and may scurry around the house making improvements, cleaning, painting, etc.

However, I still think your best answer is C.
