Autoimmune skin problem, is that a possible cause of HIV or AIDS?

If someone has a skin problem, itchiness, redness and bumpy like skin when scrathed or without scratching, which last from minutes to hours, on and off almost everyday, and was told as an autoimmune disorder, could that be HIV or AIDS symptom?

Autoimmune skin problem, is that a possible cause of HIV or AIDS?
no not always it can be an allergy or your own body sending signals to your skin that it doesn't know something that you go near any more thus making you ill.i have developed lots of allergies this year and they said it was autoimmune related.i take one ceterizine every day and use creams from allergy specialist.by the way i have to avoid parabens)its a preservative in medicines shampoos and soaps)so hard to avoid plus people walking past me with strong perfumes and aftershave starts my skin itching going lumpy and red!!!see your GP or try anti histamine your self see if it calms it and then you will know its allergy related.let us know how you get on
Reply:AUtoimmune diseases are an OVERACTIVE immune system.... they are the opposite of something like hiv/aids Report It

Reply:The best way to find out is to go see a doctor.
Reply:I have auto-immune disease (not auto-immune defiency....ie aids) so are you sure that whoever mentioned the possibility of a autoimmune disorder didnt mean what ive got as opposed to HIV/AIDS ? I only ask because when they first mentioned Auto-immune to me I actaully thought they were telling me I had AIDS...obviously I didnt. My Auto-immune disease attacks my system and as a result my Thyroid has ceased functioning. All im saying is you need to be sure what they meant by Auto-immune disease before going into full blown panic. There are other types, not just HIV/AIDS. The only way to find out for sure is to take a test at your local GUM clinic. Or ask whoever told you (if that was a health proffessional) what they meant by an "Auto-immune Disorder". Goodluck
Reply:Hi. I have auto immune liver disease and itch like crazy all the time. If I was to scratch every itch, all day, i would probably end up with marks on my skin as you describe. I need to use a lot of self control not to itch.

However, I do not have HIV or AIDS.

The only way to know for certain is for the person with the problem to go to the doc, ask what the disorder is called, and look up the info on the autoimmune disorder.
Reply:An auto immune disorder....does not tend to mean AIDS... heyfever, anaphilatic shock, allergies are all auto immune disorders.... so calm down

HIV (human immuno-deficiency Virus) does not have symptoms other than during conversion, this tends to take the form of a flu that is really mean, and can last days and sometimes months....no hard and fast rule here. After that HIV has no symptoms....it is only when your immune system has becomes so depleted by the attack of the virus that it fails...it is then your body becomes suseptable to any type of illness....it is at this point you have AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) anything can (and I mean anything) can be a symptom of AIDS...so just because someone has a rash does not mean they have AIDS...they only sure way is to go for a test. Some people get cancer, some get illness like PCP, and others (rarer for sure you can get really exotic deseases like Japanese Encephalitis) (really sorry about the spelling!!! But am not a doctor so have no idea how things are spelt
Reply:hi. first of all its DEFINITELY not a concrete sign of HIV/AIDS and i would strongly recommend that you go see a competent dermatologist who could also refer you for blood tests to establish the cause of your skin condition. while your at it have the lab tech check your HIV status as well. to search for explanations regarding medical conditions on the Internet is not advised, as you need to understand that a doctor must physically SEE YOU an examine you, in order to give you the correct dosage medication that suits your specific needs, never take advice from unqualified people, it could harm you. all the best!
